90s Clothing

So every decade has fashion trends, right?

Well, since I was a young-un during the 90s, the most vivid memories of clothing during my golden years were neon jackets (a crossover trend from the 80s) and yes, OSHKOSH B'GOSH.

OMYGOSH, ITS B'GOSH.
Mine was a pink flowery black corduroy overall set with long, pink corduroy sleeves. Yep. Well, that's what I remember for the 90s article of clothing. Now I freaking have to do my homework!!!!

well, not until I finish uploading a picture of a child wearing an Osh.... :)

Top 10 Heroes of the 90s

1. The Welch's Commercial Girl (Click the Link...Pretty un-90s with the impressive technology, right?)

(Now, we all remember her as the adorable, Shirley Temple prodigy, but let's not forget the juice she's endorsing...you never disappoint, faithful Welch's.)

2. Boy Bands and Girl Groups

Backstreet Boys, N*Sync, that obscure band that sang "Jump, Jump, the House is Jumpin'" [start video from 1:07 to 1:43] on SmartHouse: we will never forget your perfectly synchronized dance moves or spiky, gelled hairstyles that revolutionized the world.

And TLC, Spice Girls, and Destiny's Child: from you will young girls around the world demand that their man say their name or risk lookin' kinda shady, and remember to never let LeftEye take the spotlight. [side note: It is still questioned as to what made acronyms so promising for artists such as N*SYNC, TLC, and 3LW; however, what is known is that a shift in stage name trend occurred in the early 2000s with the popularization of the preceding "Lil'" title, following the introduction of Lil' Kim, Lil' BowWow, Lil' Romeo, and the more recent* Lil' Wayne and Lil' Mama].

3. Julia Roberts

This is just from personal experience, but I recognized Julia as an A-list star, even at six years old. She is one of the few 90s stars to have not faded into has-been oblivion.

4. Whitney and Britney

We remember you as the preacher's wife and the singing schoolgirl. After brief downhill spirals during the 2000s, 2009 and the coming decade seem to be promising to their careers. Shoot for the stars, itneys, shoot for the stars.

5. Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

These were "real" heroes of the 90s. Oh, crime fighting reptiles, and color-distinctive jumpsuits, how you mesmerize me!

EXTRA: VILLAINS OF THE 90S:

Mike Tyson and O.J.

oh, the controversy.

*"recent" being a term spanning anywhere during the 2000s decade, possibly referring to as "recent" as last year (as in 2009) or ten years ago (as in 2000)

Kendra, this is for you...

So I wanted to make a blog right now.

I am actually supposed to be doing some homework.

But I wanted to write this, not only because I am procrastinating on my homework at this second, but because I started thinking...

Being as a child of the 90s, there are times when I suddenly have the unavoidable urge to break out into "...Baby, One More Time," or feel the need to watch hours of Zoog Disney tv shows on YouTube (Famous Jett Jackson, anyone?)

And while I was contemplating all of the soft, warm memories of the 90s that I possess (not including Scrunchies), I had the brilliant idea that others, too, might share in this strange love affair of fond memories of being a child of the last decade of the twentieth century.

So I decided to create a place where children of the 90s could reminisce all of our favorite memories-- a sanctuary...free of ridicule by the technologically-advanced children of the early 2000s and soon-to-be 2010s.

We children of the 90s know that Sunny Delight, Caprisun, and Kool-Aid and are the best drinks a tot can recieve (minus that purple drink). And just as we can all agree that "there ain't no party like an S Club Party," we children of the 90s also must also face the undeniable truth that we can and do feel compelled to recite every last lyric of "Quit Playin' Games With My Heart" when it happenchance gets played on the radio.
Now, some of our fellow nineties kinfolk do not like to admit that they ever watched the Pokemon series or once wanted to know where in the world was Carmen Sandiego, but if you any vague remembrance of watching Touched by an Angel or hearing your mother want to go on the "1-800-90-something-Jenny" diet, your role of living during the 90s cannot be erased.

So, for all you children of the 90s, here's to you and your VHS tapes.

Mazel.
